The wheels have apparently fallen off of ‘The Poison Ascendancy Tour‘. You may recall last year that Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium held a joint press conference, revealing their plans to extensively tour together from January through to December of 2025.
Both outfits had respective milestones to celebrate via that run, with Bullet For My Valentine marking 20 years of their gold-certified debut album “The Poison” and Trivium celebrating two decades of their sophomore album “Ascendancy“. Initial plans saw the groups indicating they would be taking that run worldwide throughout this year, however, after completing the European and UK leg earlier in the year, the now nearly completed North American leg of the run will its last.
The nature of the reasoning behind the change in plans hasn’t effectively been communicated to the public yet, but a recent stream from Trivium bassist/vocalist Paolo Gregoletto made clear who decided to pull the plug: Bullet For My Valentine vocalist/guitarist Matt Tuck. As seen in the below clip from his social media stream, Gregoletto was discussing where ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour‘ was originally planned to hit this year, including South America and Australia. However, as he put it [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“Matt Tuck didn’t want to do it, after we had planned it, after stuff was already in the works — don’t know why. I think it would have been amazing. I think “The Poison” is a great album. I think the two records pair very well together. And I think it would have been nice to give everyone around the world a chance to see the two together. But we are going to do North America on our own with other bands. And we will have a lot of special surprises, just because we will 1747123405 have more time to do stuff, so, that’s what it is.”
In light of Gregoletto‘s comments, some feuding has spilled over into the band’s respective fan communities. Trivium themselves made a subtle mention of the apparent tension as well via the below post indicating the unplanned end of the tour on their Facebook:
There was also a shot taken at Tuck via Trivium‘s official TikTok. After being criticized by a fan for taking the dispute with Tuck public, Trivium replied, “He’s the sole decision maker of the band and he has no respect for us or our crew.”
This should’ve been handled behind closed doors.
