Birmingham City have secured promotion to the Championship and have won the League One this season.
At the start of this year, the Blues confirmed that they have reached a pre-contract agreement with Hannover 96’s Phil Neumann.
The 27-year-old will leave the second division German club when his contract expires in June.
Bild report the player will get married in Mallorca in June and will then arrive at Birmingham City.
The centre-back signed for free in 2022, after his three-year spell at Holstein Kiel. He’s been regular for Hannover 96, making 97 appearances of which 33 are from this season.
As well as the German, Hannover 96 will also be without 33-year-old Marcel Halstenberg next season as he’s announced his retirement. According to Bild, the duo’s exits will leave a ‘huge void’ at the German club.
Hannover 96 will play their last game of the season against Hertha Berlin later this week and that will be Neumann’s final outing with the club.
On his summer exit, Hannover 96 interim manager Lars Barlemann said: “He will be missed. Phil is a great character, has developed incredibly well, and has become a leading player for us.”
The defender scored his second goal of the season in his side’s 1-1 draw against Greuther Fuerth.
On his last home game, he explained: “It was a nice ending for me. I’m happy that the fans were able to chant my name again. I had three really great years here. I matured as a footballer, and many teammates became friends.”
