Next season will see David Raya and Ethan Nwaneri wear new numbers on the back of their 2025/26 shirts after the duo opted to pick new ones.
Having spent the past two seasons as our first-choice goalkeeper, David will officially become our No. 1 as he has selected the traditional number for shot-stoppers, which has been available since the previous incumbent, Aaron Ramsdale, moved to Southampton last summer.
That sees the Spaniard follow in the footsteps of David Seaman, Jens Lehmann, Manuel Almunia, Wojciech Szczesny, Petr Cech, Bernd Leno and Ramsdale in donning the jersey since squad numbers were introduced in the Premier League back in 1993/94.
David’s switch had left the number 22 jersey vacant, but that has been taken by Ethan, who had previously worn 53 during his breakout campaign this term.
The England under-21 international has picked a number that has previously been worn by Oleg Luzhnyi, Gael Clichy and Pablo Mari before David picked it upon his arrival from Brentford in August 2023.
The changes will come into effect following the conclusion of the current campaign, but you can buy your new 25/26 shirts with the duo’s new numbers now.
