Zoey Stark was in the middle of competing in a Money in the Bank qualifying triple threat match against a returning Kairi Sane and Rhea Ripley when she suffered a horror leg injury
A WWE star has suffered a grim injury on live television – and was left screaming in pain. Zoey Stark was competing in a Money in the Bank qualifying triple threat match against a returning Kairi Sane and eventual winner Rhea Ripley.
Stark hadn’t been seen on Monday Night Raw for several months, but made her return last light looking for a victory. However, not long into the match, Stark went for a low missile dropkick on Sane’s legs but ended up suffering a horrific injury as her right left did not fully extend into the move.
The leg ended up twisting in the opposite direction, seemingly at a 90 degree angle, which saw her immediately drop to the floor, grab her knee and scream in pain.
The referee went to check on her, as the camera tried to cut away to show Rhea sitting in the corner of the ring, but Stark’s screams were audibly loud while commentator Pat McAfee could be seen in the background with his mouth wide open looking stunned.
A doctor the came into the ring to check on Stark as commentator Michael Cole said: “Zoe came off the top rope rope and tried to it Kairi Sane with that sniper-like dropkick – Sane moved out of harms way and Zoe hit hard”.
The chaos continue as the crowd was deafly silent, looking stunned at what had happened, while Stark continued to scream in pain, as opponents Riley and Sane both looked concerned.
The Netflix feed cut out and returned after an impromptu advert break, which didn’t show what happened to Stark but explained that the match was now going to be a one-on-one battle between Ripley and Sane – which the former eventually won.
WWE has yet to officially confirm the injury status of Stark, but fans took to social media to express their concerns over the 31-year-old Las Vegas native.
British wrestler and YouTube star Simon Miller said: “Just seen the Zoey Stark incident from RAW and as corny as it sounds felt right to just throw some positivity her way. Hope she’s alright. Scary reminder that wrestling at all times is crazy dangerous and you just never know.”
Another fan said: “When we see injuries like Zoey Stark’s in real time it p*****me off when people say wrestling isn’t real. Like it’s staged but the risks are real the moves are real and I’m hoping Zoey heals up quickly because that was DEVASTATING.”
A third said: “Been a fan of Zoey since her NXT debut in early 2021 and I hope she’s able to come back from this injury.”
