The Bolton-born star recently made another return to the spotlight and has been performing in arenas up and down the country with his Better Late than Never tour.
Things actually kicked off back in 2022 when he returned to the stage for his first live tour since 12 years. His first comeback gig was at Manchester’s AO Arena with the first run of his Better Late Than Never tour running through December 2022.
Peter then surprised fans at the end of last year as he announced a raft of new tour dates throughout 2025 and 2026, making his record-breaking tour even bigger.
But away from the stage, Peter has revealed he has put pen to paper and promises to detail his life in his most personal book yet.
Staying true to form, the local star shared a look at the cover of the book. a hilariously nods to Bridget Jones’ Diary, as Peter’s face replaces that of the iconic character, played by Renée Zellweger.
Sharing the news on Instagram, a message read: “Introducing… Peter Kay’s Diary: The Monthly Memoir of a Boy from Bolton, Peter’s most personal and hilarious book yet. Join Peter for a laugh-out-loud journey through his life, month by month.
“Pre-order your copy now. A limited number of signed editions are available exclusively at Waterstones.com. Link in bio. Don’t miss out!”
A teaser for the book has also revealed: “Think of this autobiography as a twelve-month subscription to my memories and meanderings across the calendar year. With each month reflecting a different phase of my life, complete with dodgy decisions, bizarre plot twists and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments.
Back in February, Peter dealt with hecklers at his Better Late Than Never… Again! gig at Manchester’s AO Arena after one man yelled out ‘garlic bread’, before a woman began to chant: “We love you Peter, we do.”
As the woman – who later came forward as Myar Curran, 25, from Scotland – was removed from the arena, Peter told her: “Out you go. Go on, Lisa Riley, f*** off. Go on. Out you pop flower, go on. See you. You’ve upset every b*gger.”
Myar described feeling ‘so upset’ at Peter’s comments, telling the Manchester Evening News she believed it was a reference to her weight.
But Emmerdale star Lisa, famed for playing Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap, later defended the comedian in the days following the incident – and showed there were no hard feelings again on Saturday night, as she posed for photos with Peter after one of his shows.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, in March, she wrote: “THANK YOU so so so much Peter for the most fantastic night. We laughed until it hurt-the show is absolutely hilarious-we were up until way gone midnight reciting all the jokes-northern at its absolute best. You are the best of the best. Love ya.”
