Lee Jakes has been jailed for the arson attack on Fitzhamon Embankment, Cardiff
A man has been jailed after he caused £2 million damage by burning down a supported accommodation unit opposite the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
Lee Jakes appeared at Cardiff Crown Court for sentencing on Monday having previously admitted one count of arson, having set fire to Dyfrig House, on Fitzhamon Embankment, shortly before midnight at the beginning of March.
The supported housing unit near the city centre was devastated by fire in the early hours of the morning on March 2, 2025. As a result, 21 occupants were left homeless with Cardiff Council having to rehouse them.

Nobody was injured during the fire but the damage to the building is estimated at more than £2m, with work ongoing in the property.
Jakes, aged 33, of Tresillian Way, Cardiff, was sentenced to one year and four months in prison. He must pay £187 costs.
