Stoke City are set to sign another centre-forward within the summer transfer window, and Mark Robins will be hoping he can improve from recent seasons.

Stoke City have endured a turbulent summer transfer window so far, with a host of high-profile arrivals and departures at the Bet365 Stadium.

After being threatened with relegation from the Championship to League One towards the conclusion of last season, Potters boss Mark Robins and the club’s transfer team have been gathering recruits.

Earlier in the window, Stoke signed Sorba Thomas from Huddersfield Town, with his acquisition followed up by the signings of Maksym Talovierov, Aaron Cresswell, and a loan deal for Manchester City youngster Divin Mubama.

Now, reports have emerged that Stoke are primed to land another new striker this summer alongside Mubama, and Robins will be hoping for improvement on his recent goalscoring record.

Stoke City set to sign Boavista striker Robert Bozenik on free deal

As well as the aforementioned incomings at Stoke, Robins has been plagued by some high-profile departures so far this summer.

Wouter Burger is set to join Hoffenheim on a cut-price deal, and academy product Sol Sidibe will leave Stoke for PSV Eindhoven in a further blow for Robins’ midfield.

With the Potters faithful stung by the departure of two key figures in Stoke’s second tier survival last term, Robins’ next recruit will come in the form of Slovakian forward Robert Bozenik.

Portuguese journalist Sebastiao Sousa-Pinto revealed on X: Róbert Bozenik to Stoke City… the clock is ticking!

“The striker arrives at the Championship club on a free transfer and will sign a contract valid for 3 seasons – until June 2028.”

Bozenik arrives from Portuguese outfit Boavista, who suffered relegation from the top flight last term, which saw the striker’s contract terminated one year early due to the club’s financial struggles.

With Robins hoping to end Stoke’s absence from the top flight next season, Potters fans can be forgiven for not being overjoyed by the signing of Bozenik, given his turgid goalscoring record in recent seasons.

Mark Robins will hope Robert Bozenik can improve on goal record

On the surface, Stoke’s signing a 48-time capped Slovakian international, on a free transfer, would appear to be a sensible bit of summer business.

However, when delving further into Bozenik’s statistics over recent seasons, it seems as though the goalscoring burden for Stoke could fall on City loanee Mubama’s shoulders during the 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Games played 57 28 68
Goals scored 19 4 16
Assists 0 0 4

25-year-old Bozenik scored only five goals in 33 Liga Portugal appearances in 2024/25, and has failed to register double digits for goals in a league season since his breakout 13-goal campaign for Slovakian outfit Zilina in the 2018/19 campaign.

Bozenik’s goalscoring record does not inspire much confidence, and the Slovakian forward will have to prove his pedigree in front of goal next term to prove the Potters right in pursuing his signature.
