Turning his attention towards our first away fixture of the campaign, the boss is anticipating a different test when City travel to face the Valiants.
“From a professional point of view, our focus is now purely on today’s training and then looking at tomorrow’s game,” he continued. “It’s the only way that we can work from our perspective.
“I think it will be a different challenge. We’ve only been away to Notts County in pre-season really where we had the feeling of playing in a different environment against a home team with their supporters.
“Port Vale are obviously coming off the back of a hugely successful campaign last season, probably the opposite of ourselves, so that challenge in itself for our young squad will be really important to understand what we’re going to face.
“It’s a different test to what we had on Saturday, which is the most exciting thing for me to see how we can cope with that and try to overcome it.”
