The tennis season’s second Grand Slam, the French Open, is officially underway and the first round continues on Monday with matches in the top half of the women’s draw and the bottom half of the men’s.
Men’s top seed Jannik Sinner takes to the Parisian clay on Monday with home talent Arthur Rinderknech his opponent in the first round, while women’s three-time defending champion Iga Swiatek locks horns with Rebecca Sramkova on a jam-packed day.

Luciano Darderi to beat Sebastian Korda @ 11/10
American ace Sebastian Korda has not made it beyond the third round of the French Open since 2020 and he could be a vulnerable favourite in his opening match against Italian Luciano Darderi.
More comfortable on the hard courts, Korda has not had the best time of it on the European clay this year, winning three and losing three of his matches in the Barcelona Open, Madrid Open and Italian Open.
He is seeded 23rd in Paris but faces a testing opener against Darderi.
Both of the Italian’s titles on the ATP tour have come on the slower surface, most recently at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco as recently as April.
Darderi took down the tournament’s top seed Tallon Griekspoor in that final and made the quarter-finals of both the Bavarian International Tennis Championships and the Hamburg Open.
He has fully thrown himself into the clay-court swing and is overpriced to win this clash in Paris.

Hubert Hurkacz to beat Joao Fonseca @ 11/10
Another player being underestimated in the betting at the French Open on Monday is Polish talent Hubert Hurkacz, who is a good bet at 11/10 to defeat Joao Fonseca.
Having already suffered ten defeats this year, Hurkacz is not enjoying his best season and has dropped down to 28th in the ATP rankings.
But he turned a corner at the recent Geneva Open on clay, finishing runner-up after a hard-fought 7-5 6-7 6-7 defeat to Novak Djokovic in the final.
Hurkacz defeated top seed Taylor Fritz en route to the final and he has twice gone as far as the fourth round in Paris.
Fonseca is a promising talent, having reached the second round of the Australian Open as a qualifier in January, but a win could be beyond the 18-year-old on his French Open debut.

Magdalena Frech +2.5 on game handicap v Ons Jabeur @ 5/4
Still searching for a maiden Grand Slam title, Ons Jabeur has reached the quarter-finals of the French Open in each of the last two seasons but she could be up against it when she faces Magdalena Frech in Paris on Monday.
Jabeur has an underwhelming 12-10 win-loss record in 2025 and has lost her last two completed matches, against Moyuka Uchijima and Jasmine Paolini.
Indeed, she has lost five of her last six completed matches in all competitions and her first opponent at the French Open, 25th seed Frech, is worth backing at +2.5 on the game handicap.
