Why Anti-Ageing Influencer Doesn’t See ‘Any Reason’ He Should Die

Anti-ageing influencer Bryan Johnson believes he could live forever, provided artificial intelligence and medical technologies continue to develop along the same rapid trajectory in the coming years.

Johnson spends around $2 million a year on various technologies to improve his life expectancy, with the American billionaire having implemented a strict dietary and lifestyle regimen in the pursuit of longevity. Every aspect of his body – including his nighttime erections – are measured by his health team, helping inform any opportunities to optimise.

In doing so, he claims he has managed to reverse his biological age and now sees ‘no reason why I should die’.

‘I’m 47 years old, if you look at the progress of artificial intelligence and medical technologies and biology, it is the most reasonable contemplation that we will solve ageing and regeneration in the time span I have,’ Johnson said on The Louis Theroux Podcast.

‘So, let’s just say I’m going to live to 90 or a hundred something on that range without any further interventions. So that gives us 40 to 50 years. Let’s exclude accidental death as a cause, 40 to 50 years at current rates of progress. I don’t think there’s any reason I should die that technologically; we should be able to solve ageing in that timeframe.’

Having already seen plenty of success through the various methods he has implemented as part of his anti-ageing programme, named Project Blueprint, Johnson is hopeful that the ageing process will never catch up with him.

It’s noteworthy that at my current speed of aging, I already celebrate my birthday every 19 months, so my speed of ageing is 0.64,’ Johnson added. ‘We’ve already meaningfully slowed down how fast I age or how slow I age, and so that’s just current technology and we’ve got some really innovative technologies on the horizon that could dramatically change that.’

Having graduated from Cardiff University in 2020, and later obtaining his NCTJ qualification, Ryan started his career as a Trainee News Writer for sports titles Golf Monthly, Cycling Weekly and Rugby World before progressing to Staff Writer and subsequently Senior Writer with football magazine FourFourTwo.

During his two-and-a-half years there he wrote news stories for the website and features for the magazine, while he also interviewed names such as Les Ferdinand, Ally McCoist, Jamie Redknapp and Antonio Rudiger, among many others. His standout memory, though, came when getting the opportunity to speak to then-Plymouth Argyle manager Steven Schumacher as the club won League One in 2023.

Having grown up a keen footballer and playing for his boyhood side until the age of 16, Ryan got the opportunity to represent Northern Ireland national futsal team eight times, scoring three goals against England, Scotland and Gibraltar. Now past his peak, Ryan prefers to mix weightlifting with running – he achieved a marathon PB of 3:31:49 at Manchester in April 2025, but credits the heat for failing to get below the coveted 3:30 mark…
